Farm house destroyed by fire

Mar 04, 2013 01:28 pm | Dawn Smith

Rocky View Fire Services suspects vandalism is behind a fire that destroyed an abandoned farm house near Cochrane Lakes during the morning of Feb. 19.

About 15 firefighters and captains and three engines and four tenders from Cochrane and Springbank fire stations initially attended the event after receiving a call at about 9 a.m.

However, only two engines and tenders remained on scene when firefighters discovered there was no occupants in the 1,200-square-foot building.

According to Rocky View Fire Services District Chief Judy Unsworth, the fire was under control and confined to the basement in three hours.

No one was injured in the fire. Investigators are still determining the cause of the fire.

If you have information on this incident or any unsolved crime, call your local RCMP detachment or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
