Cobras place fourth at track provincials
The Rocky View Sports Association’s (RVSA) track season came to an end with the provincial meet, which was held at Foote Field in Edmonton, June 1 and 2.
In the 3A team standings, Cochrane was the top Rocky View team, placing fourth with 212 points. Springbank followed in fifth place with 150 points and Bow Valley came in 15th with 98 points. Bert Church and George McDougall high schools both placed in the top 40, with the Chargers taking 22nd place with 68.5 points and the Mustangs taking the 38th spot with 29.5 points.

Airdrie Aces
The Airdrie Aces Athletic Club had another strong showing at the Calgary Track and Field (CAL-TAF) meet, June 8 to 10 at the Foothills Athletic Park in Calgary.
Scott Chalupiak and Jacob Aulin each brought home a gold medal for as the overall winners of their age categories.
Chalupiak placed first in the 800-metre, 80-metre, 80-metre hurdles, 1,200-metre and shot put events in the bantam category.
He also placed second in high jump and fourth in long jump.
Aulin placed first in the peewee boys’ high jump, 600-metre and ball throw events.
He placed second in the 60-metre, 150-metre and 100-metre races, as well as the long jump event.
Sam Gagne won the bantam boys’ overall silver medal on Saturday and the overall bronze medal on Sunday thanks to a first-place finish in ball throw, second-place finishes in 80-metre run and long jump, a fourth-place finish in 80-metre hurdles, high jump and shot put and a sixth-place finish in the 800-metre run.
