Byelection in Division 1 announced
Rocky View County has chosen March 26 as its byelection date in Division 1. The byelection is being held after the death of former councillor Rick Butler, Dec. 26 at Nakiska Mountain Resort.
Under the Municipal Government Act, a byelection must be held within 90 days.
The total cost of the byelection is $13,189. An additional $4,200 is being spent this byelection for purchasing new signs for future elections. Councillors approved the extra expense.
Nomination day will be Feb. 27 at Rocky View County’s administration building from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
An advance vote will happen March 23 and 24 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., also at the administration building.
Polls will be open between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.
Those incapacitated or unable to make it the administration building can contact a Returning Officer to visit their residence to record the vote.
